Metaspace: Simulakra
Experience Design, 2020
The exhibition Simulakra / Art Meeting in the Net is designed within Metaspace as a digital art event where the cyber meeting of artists who reconstruct the meta-codes of nature’s biological and cognitive evolutionary processes with speculative forms, sounds and stories in digital space will take place. The installation and live performances of 16 artists from 7 different countries can be experienced together with other visitors and artists in a digital space.
The basic idea was built on being able to come together with a realistic experience under quarantine conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic. Using P2P WebRTC mesh networks, users’ webcam images were transferred to a 3D environment with the help of a webGL-based 3D game engine. The voices of the users were also adapted in 3D. Thus, similar to real life, it was ensured not to hear the distant person and to see only the direction looked at. In addition, a music live broadcast system was created with the media server integrated into the system.
