Cityscapes

“Cityscapes” is a video work utilising a dataset of photographs of buildings taken by the artist in different cities. This dataset of city photographs was used to fine-tune the “Stable Diffusion” artificial intelligence model trained with text-image correspondences, enabling it to generate images that resemble the artist’s original photographs.

The video takes viewers on a journey through a series of visual interpretations, each representing a unique possibility within the vast latent space of the AI model. In this abstract space, the boundaries between reality and imagination blur, raising questions about our existence and our place in the urban environment.

While questioning our environment and our place in the urban environment, “Cityscapes” prompts us to think about how cities continue to change/evolve unpredictably in different times and places and the consequences of our collective choices.
